Physical Education

At Bolder Academy, our Physical Education (PE) curriculum is designed to develop our students into kind, strong and brave young adults where a Bolder future awaits.

The aims of the PE Curriculum

The aims of the PE curriculum are:

  • For students to be able to lead healthy, active lives.
  • Inspire all students to succeed and excel in sports and other physically demanding activities.
  • To experience a broad range of physical activities at the Academy, and promote further opportunities to engage in local clubs and competitions.

How we deliver PE

Bolder Academy follows the national curriculum and provides a minimum of two hours of PE a week.

Students:

  • Study a broad range of physical activities in order to develop their physical, social and mental well-being
  • Are encouraged to lead healthy and active lives beyond the classroom
  • Engage in competitive sport and activities.

A wealth of practical, individual and group based lessons are delivered in parallel with opportunities to join and participate in a wide range of sporting clubs.

Students have the opportunity to take part in competitions internally and externally of the Academy, which gives them further experience of playing in a competitive environment.

Our Intended Impact in PE

We will know if we have been successful when our students live and breathe our three core values within the Academy and beyond. When they demonstrate:

  • Kindness: By showing compassion and empathy when working with team mates and demonstrating good sportsmanship to others inside and outside of the Academy.
  • Strength: By continuously developing life skills such as resilience, leadership and critical and creative thinking, by competing with local and national teams.
  • Bravery: By demonstrating confidence, authority and respect when participating, officiating or leading. Being able to critique their own performance across a broad variety of sports.

Equally we want to prepare students effectively for the current and next stage in their learning, whether this is studying for a GCSE or Vocational qualification in Key Stage 4, A Level in Physical Education or a Level 3 vocational qualification at Key Stage 5, University study or the world of work.
