Year 10 Work Experience

During Work Experience Week, students took part in a wide range of Insight Days and in-school workshops designed to enhance their employability, communication, teamwork, and transferable skills.

Students attended Insight Days with industry-leading organisations including Newmark, Four Agency, Apple, and the Clayton Hotel, gaining valuable exposure to a variety of career pathways and professional environments.

At the Clayton Hotel, students explored careers in hospitality and developed an understanding of the day- to-day operations of a hotel. Through practical activities, they learned about customer service, teamwork, communication, event management, and the importance of delivering outstanding guest experiences. Students also had the opportunity to meet hospitality professionals, network with staff, and learn more about the diverse career opportunities available within the sector.

Back at school, students further developed essential workplace skills through a series of engaging workshops and team-building activities focused on communication, collaboration, problem-solving, and professional expectations. A CV-writing session delivered by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) provided valuable guidance on creating effective CVs and presenting skills and experiences confidently to potential employers. Using the Unifrog platform, students explored a range of post-16 pathways, including sixth forms, colleges, apprenticeships, and future career options, helping them make informed decisions about their next steps. Students also benefited from sessions with professionals from Accenture, who shared insights into the worlds of business and technology and highlighted the skills needed to succeed in today’s workplace.

Overall, Work Experience Week was a highly rewarding experience, providing students with valuable networking opportunities, increased confidence, and a deeper understanding of the skills and opportunities that will support their future education and career journeys.
