At Bolder Academy, we empower every student to thrive in the world of work and beyond. Guided by our values of kindness, strength, and bravery, we equip students with the skills, confidence, and ambition to make bold, informed decisions and seize opportunities for a fulfilling future.

We show kindness by providing diverse career encounters and real-world experiences, ensuring all students have the resources to explore and plan their future. We inspire bravery by encouraging students to take confident steps in their career journey, armed with the knowledge and tools to succeed. We build strength by integrating career education across the curriculum, helping students connect their learning to real-world opportunities and develop resilience for the future.

Through these efforts, we prepare our students to excel in dynamic careers, ready to thrive and lead in an ever-changing world.

Careers2

Bolder Academy is committed to delivering a high-quality careers programme that inspires and prepares students for their futures. We are looking to strengthen and grow our network of partners across a wide range of industries, businesses, and educational or training providers.

If you, a family member, or a colleague can support our careers programme, we would love to hear from you. Opportunities to get involved include:

  • Offering work experience placements
  • Delivering careers talks
  • Providing networking opportunities
  • Participating in our annual Careers Fair, held in March

Your support helps us provide students with valuable insights into the world of work and further education. To express your interest or find out more, please contact us at careers@bolderacademy.co.uk.

At Bolder Academy, we are committed to delivering a comprehensive and meaningful careers programme that meets national expectations. Our approach aligns with the statutory guidance set by the Department for Education (DfE), following the publication of the national Careers Strategy in December 2017 and the updated guidance released in January 2018.

In accordance with this framework, all schools are required to:

  • Appoint a named careers leader to oversee the delivery of careers education
  • Develop and implement a careers education, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) programme that is reviewed annually

Schools are also expected to work towards achieving the eight Gatsby Benchmarks, which outline best practice in careers education. These benchmarks help ensure that all students receive high-quality, impartial guidance to support their future pathways in education, training or employment.

Bolder Academy is committed to embedding these standards across our careers provision, helping students make informed, confident choices about their futures.

Careers 3

At Bolder Academy, we regularly review and improve our Careers programme using the Compass+ evaluation tool in collaboration with the Careers & Enterprise Company, local education hubs, and external partners to ensure students receive the best possible opportunities.

At Bolder Academy, we are committed to preparing students for life beyond school through a balanced careers programme that combines meaningful work experience with personalised guidance.

Work Experience

Students in Year 10 and Year 12 are supported in securing placements that help them explore industries, develop employability skills, and gain confidence in professional environments.

  • Year 12 students are encouraged to independently arrange their placements, with support available where needed.
  • Year 10 students take part in Insight Days through our partnership with the SPARK charity, followed by in-school workshops and a Careers Fair to deepen their understanding of career pathways.
  • Students in Years 10–13 can also organise additional placements during school holidays, except for Easter in Year 11 and 13, which is reserved for exam preparation.
1:1 Careers Guidance

Personalised one-to-one careers guidance at Bolder Academy is provided by a Level 6 qualified careers advisor through Innervate, an independent careers service. This tailored support is available to all students in Years 10 and 11, as well as selected students in the Sixth Form, and begins each October as part of our ongoing careers programme.

Careers4Unifrog is a complete destinations platform, a one-stop shop for whole-school careers guidance, KS3-KS5. All available information is in one single, impartial, user-friendly platform that helps students make the best choices and submit the strongest applications.

Every student at the Academy has an account with Unifrog and will be using throughout the year. We are asking parents and carers to encourage their children to sign in and use it at home. Please see the attached presentation, video and letter which will provide you with all the information you need to access Unifrog. If you have any questions, please email careers@bolderacademy.co.uk.
