Year 8 Being Bold: Public Speaking Unit

This term, Year 8 students have been completing a unit on public speaking as part of their Being Bold curriculum. Throughout the lessons, students explored the key ingredients of an effective speech, including how to engage an audience, structure ideas clearly, and deliver with confidence.

Students then put their learning into practice by creating and presenting their own speeches on topics they were passionate about. After performing to their form groups, the strongest speakers from each form were selected to take part in a final competition in front of the entire year group and a panel of judges.

The unit concluded with an inspiring session from the Empower Management Programme Lead at Sky, who shared valuable insights into presenting effectively in the workplace and the importance of strong communication skills in professional settings. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to showcase their confidence, creativity, and public speaking abilities.
