Duke of Edinburgh Bronze and Silver Awards

This year, almost 100 Year 9 and 10 students embarked on their Duke of Edinburgh Award journey at Bronze and Silver levels.

Bronze (Year 9) – Chiltern Hills After intensive training in navigation, tent pitching and camp cooking, our Bronze participants hiked for two days through woodlands and rolling hills from Handleton Common to Burnham Beeches, camping overnight at Longridge Activity Centre. All six groups successfully passed their assessment.

As one participant reflected: "It was a great experience and when you reach the end it's so rewarding especially if it's with your friends... It is a lot of work but very worth it and now I definitely want to do silver!"

Silver (Year 10) – Surrey Hills Our Silver participants completed a more challenging three-day, two-night expedition covering 16km from Newlands Corner to Reigate Heath. Despite soaring temperatures on the final day, all eight groups demonstrated incredible resilience and determination, successfully completing their assessment.

Congratulations! Well done to all participants for pushing beyond the classroom and showcasing their skills in unconventional environments. We're incredibly proud of your achievements and look forward to supporting next year's cohort!
