Globe Players Performance
On Tuesday 13th October, Year 10 and Year 11 enjoyed brilliant performances of An Inspector Calls and Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, performed in school by The Globe Players.
In the An Inspector Calls production, Year 10 students enjoyed the rising tension and the depiction of the Birlings' moment of realisation around Eric's true relationship with Eva Smith. They also enjoyed how the actor playing Inspector Goole portrayed his quiet authority. This was a great opportunity for them to revise the play, having studied it at the end of Year 9, and further enhance their understanding of character.
Similarly, Year 11 students enjoyed how the Globe Players brought the novel, Jekyll and Hyde, to life on stage. They especially enjoyed how the terror of Jekyll and Lanyon was captured and thought it was interesting that Hyde only actually appeared on stage once in the play - this deliberate directorial choice allowed students to imagine for themselves the true horror of Mr Hyde's appearance. During the Q+A afterwards, one of the actors commented that they thought the main message of the play was around the power of friendship - something that several students remarked they hadn't considered before.
The students were a brilliant audience and had lots of thoughtful questions for the actors.
We hope they enjoyed the show.
