Year 7

As we reflect on the strong start to the academic year, I am delighted to share some impressive achievements that highlight the importance of good attendance. Our Year 7 cohort has achieved an outstanding 97% attendance rate so far, with 7C leading the way at 98%!

This dedication ensures students can fully engage with the curriculum, build meaningful relationships, and maximise their learning potential. Even small absences can impact progress, so we urge families to aim for the maximum school attendance throughout for the year and notify us of any issues early for support.

These efforts have also contributed to an incredible 20,676 positive points earned by our Year 7 cohort, demonstrating the rewards of consistent effort, participation and pursuit of success. Punctuality remains a key foundation for success, setting a respectful and productive tone each day.

In particular, 7M has surged at 1st place with 4,245 points, with 7P a close second with 4,150 - clear evidence of how punctuality and engagement drive recognition and growth. To maintain our high standards, we encourage all students to sign up for homework club, which runs every day after school in the Library, as well as extra-curricular activities, which provide valuable opportunities for skill-building and team enjoyment. These initiatives not only support academic excellence but also enrich the school experience and are essential for forging a vital team-spirit among our students.

Finally, I would like to point out the amazing time our Year 7 students had at the Sky Sports, as well as during the Jack Petchey “Speak Out Challenge”. These activities demonstrate how vital it is for our Students to develop their character traits now that they are in their Secondary stage of their education journey. By stepping out of their Primary School shells, they have showcased to the entire school that we have a very bright cohort that will make parents and teachers alike, immensely proud.

Yours sincerely, Mr Babis Gkazis

Year 8

What a fantastic start to the academic year. We are delighted to share that Year 8 students have already been awarded an impressive 16,335 achievement points this term. During our learning walks, we’ve seen students fully engaged, demonstrating excellent behaviour and a real enthusiasm for learning. We would like to remind families of the importance of regular attendance. Currently, Year 8 attendance stands at 93%. While this is a strong start, we are aiming even higher to ensure students get the most out of their learning. Every day really does count!

A huge congratulations to 8M, who earned the highest number of achievement points as a form group with an outstanding 2,148 points. We were pleased to reward their efforts with a celebratory breakfast in the canteen this week.

Our after-school clubs are now up and running, offering students a great opportunity to explore new interests, make friends, and build confidence. Research shows that children who participate in extracurricular clubs not only improve their academic attainment but also experience enhanced well-being. We encourage all students to get involved.

If your child needs support with their homework, our Homework Club runs every day after school in the Library. This is a great way for students to get help from staff in a quiet and supportive environment.

We hope all parents and carers have logged into Class Charts, which is a fantastic platform for supporting your child’s learning. Many parents have told us how helpful they find it, especially for keeping track of homework, achievements, behaviour, and timetables. If you haven’t had a chance to access it yet, please do make contact school for support in getting started.

We wish all our families a restful and enjoyable half-term break. Thank you for your continued support.

Year 9

As we reach the end of a busy and productive half term, I want to take a moment to celebrate the achievements, hard work, and positive attitude shown by Year 9 students.

A special congratulations goes to 9M, who were treated to a reward breakfast this week in recognition of their excellent behaviour, consistent effort, and positive contributions to school life. It was a

I would also like to recognise the students who recently took part in a workshop on positive relationships organised by Tender. These students not only engaged thoughtfully in the session but also showed fantastic leadership by presenting their learning to the entire year group. Their maturity and willingness to support their peers was commendable.

Thank you again to all our students and staff for a brilliant half term. Have a restful break and come back ready for another term full of learning and opportunities!

Year 10

Starting Year 10 means students are stepping into an important stage of their education; one filled with exciting challenges and opportunities to grow. This has been a more challenging start to a new academic year than previous ones.

It was wonderful to see so many students nominate themselves to support the Year 7 open evening and show the perspective new parents around the school. We received lots of positive comments and praise for their maturity and passion for the school - well done to you all.

The second half of the term will bring new topics and challenges with it. Keep up your dedication, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it.

Enjoy a well-deserved break, recharge, and come back ready to make the most of the rest of Year 10!

Year 11

What a successful and productive start to the academic year!

Looking ahead, the next half term is an important one as students begin their mock exams week beginning Monday 17th November. These exams are a key opportunity to show what students have learnt and identify areas to develop further, ahead of the summer GCSEs.

To help students feel as prepared as possible, here are some key reminders:

Revision – Use your break wisely. Balance rest with focused revision. Use the revision materials you've been provided with and speak to your teachers if you're unsure about anything.

Equipment Check – Make sure you return after the break fully equipped for exams. You should have:

  • Black pens (at least 2)
  • Pencils, ruler, eraser
  • Scientific calculator
  • Geometry set (compass, protractor)
  • Highlighters (optional, for revision)

Taking care of yourself is just as important as working hard. Use this break to rest, recharge, and return with energy for the term ahead. Continue making the most of your lessons and intervention sessions. Every moment counts, and your effort now will pay off later.

I believe in each and every one of you, and with the right preparation and mindset, you will go into the mock exams feeling confident and ready.

Have a safe and restful break – we look forward to welcoming you back after half term.
