Year 8 Youth Careers Collective Workshop

Year 8 Youth Careers Collective Workshop

Students recently took part in a two‑hour engineering and technology workshop inspired by real challenges at Heathrow Airport. The session brought airport engineering careers to life by introducing students to the wide range of engineering roles that keep Heathrow operating safely and efficiently. Working in teams, students coded a micro:bit and navigated an airport map, applying STEM knowledge to solve practical engineering problems.

Throughout the workshop, facilitators highlighted essential Skills Builder skills such as teamwork and problem solving. Students actively practised these skills during the challenge and later reflected on them through short presentations and written evaluations. The experience gave students an engaging insight into how these skills underpin real engineering and technology careers.
