Year 9 visit to the Rose Theatre
On Monday 9th February, Miss Haynes and Mr Lodge took a group of Year 9 students to the Rose Theatre in Kingston to see the stage adaptation of Boy at the Back of the Class. The story follows a young refugee boy who arrives at a new school after fleeing war in his home country, and explores themes of friendship, empathy, and the importance of standing up for others.
The following day, students took part in a workshop led by the director of the production, where they explored characterisation and performance choices in more detail. Through practical activities and discussion, they gained valuable insight into how actors develop their roles and how key moments from the novel are brought to life on stage.
