Building Confidence Through Reading: Our current Year 8 Literacy Success

Just before the summer holidays, we invested in the futures of 10 current Year 8 students through a transformative six- week literacy programme that has yielded remarkable results.

The programme, delivered by the Readers Theatre Programme and organised by South Bank University, focused on developing students' reading confidence and public speaking skills – essential foundations for their academic success and personal development.

The impact of this intervention became strikingly evident in September 2025, when our students attended St Mary's University Twickenham. There, they demonstrated the remarkable progress they had made, reading with clarity and confidence in front of an audience of 20 people. The transformation in their self-assurance and reading ability was clear for all to see.
