Year 12 English Literature Trip to Dracula at the Lyric Theatre

Year 12 English Literature students recently enjoyed a trip to the Lyric Theatre in Hammersmith to see a powerful theatrical dramatisation inspired by Bram Stoker’s Dracula.
This was a fantastic opportunity for students to begin engaging with seminal works of Gothic fiction: a key area of study for their A-level English Literature course. The performance offered a fresh and thought-provoking perspective on Stoker’s classic novel, retelling the story through the eyes of its female characters.
By uncovering the often-overlooked female voices at the heart of the tale, the production encouraged students to think critically about gender, power, and representation - themes central to both Gothic literature and feminist literary criticism.
The trip not only brought Dracula vividly to life on stage but also introduced students to the valuable skill of analysing texts through a feminist lens, helping to deepen their understanding of how context and perspective shape meaning in literature.
