Pupil Premium

Pupil Premium at Bolder Academy

The Pupil Premium Grant is additional Government funding provided to help schools close the attainment gap between disadvantaged students and their peers. It is allocated to students who are, or have been in the last six years, eligible for benefit-related Free School Meals, as well as to students who are currently or have previously been in local authority care, or whose parents serve in the armed forces.

At Bolder Academy, this funding is used to ensure that all students—regardless of background—can access the full range of academic and enrichment opportunities. It helps to fund targeted academic support, extracurricular activities, educational visits, and materials that enhance engagement and progress across the curriculum.

Our Governing Board is committed to equity and inclusion. We believe all students should have access to the highest-quality education, and that financial circumstances should not prevent anyone from participating fully in school life.

The education we provide at Bolder Academy, including the facilities and materials, compulsory curriculum trips and/or education for prescribed examinations is free.

Further details can be found here in the: Charging and Remission Policy

While contributions may be requested for some trips or activities, support is always available for Pupil Premium students to ensure equal access.

Supporting Year 7 and Beyond

Although the Government’s Year 7 Catch-Up Grant has now ended, Bolder Academy continues to provide tailored support to students who enter secondary school below age-related expectations in English or Maths. These students are identified through initial baseline assessments, and additional help is offered through in-class support and structured interventions where needed.

Any support is closely monitored and designed to help students build confidence and make accelerated progress, allowing them to access the full breadth of the curriculum.
