On Thursday 1st May, the Year 10 Intervention Group visited Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre as part of their English enrichment. The trip aimed to support students’ understanding of Shakespeare’s work and give them a sense of its original performance setting.
During the visit, students took part in a guided tour of the theatre, where they learned about the history of the Globe, the structure of Elizabethan performances, and the unique features of the open- air stage. They had the opportunity to view the theatre from the Gentlemen’s Box, offering a privileged perspective of the performance space. The guide shared fascinating insights into how plays were staged in Shakespeare’s time and the experience of different audience members.
The group were extremely well behaved and represented Bolder Academy positively throughout the day. The visit provided useful context for the texts explored in lessons and complemented the group’s work in English this term.
