Visit from a member of the House of Lords

On Friday 2nd May, we were delighted to welcome a distinguished guest from the House of Lords as part of the popular Learn with the Lords programme. Lord Ranger visited the school and delivered an engaging and informative session about the role and work of the House of Lords, followed by a lively and thought-provoking Q&A.

Lord Ranger brings a wealth of experience in the technology and transport sectors. Notably, he was part of the team that introduced the Oyster card and later served as a transport advisor to Boris Johnson during his time as Mayor of London.

The session was attended by 150 students from Years 8, 9, and 10, who asked insightful and challenging questions about Lord Ranger’s background, career, and political views. It was fantastic to see so many students actively engaged in political discussion and showing such curiosity about how our society is shaped.

This memorable event has sparked plenty of interest and enthusiasm, and we look forward to more opportunities to bring real-world politics into the classroom.
